ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION OF THE FAIRFAX COUNTY VIRGINIA SHERIFF’S ASSOCIATION, INC
We hereby associate to form a non-stock corporation pursuant to the provisions of chapter 2, Title 13.1 of the 1950 code of
Virginia, as amended, and to that end, set forth the following:
1. The name of this corporation shall be:
FAIRFAX COUNTY VIRGINIA SHERIFF’S ASSOCIATION, INC.
2. The purpose or purposes for which the corporation is organized are:
To operate a non-profit, non -stock corporation which shall have the power to take and hold by gift, purchase,
grant,devise or bequest any property, real, personal or mixed, and to dispose of the same at it’s pleasure.
To own, operate, lease or rent facilities for the benefit of it’s members of the said organization and their and
invitees.
To establish and maintain a fund for the relief of disabled, sick or otherwise incapacitated members of the
Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department.
To encourage protection of the jurisdiction of the Sheriff as a constitutional Law Enforcement Officer and to
support Sheriff’s throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, in their efforts to discourage their Law Enforcement, Corrections
and Judicial responsibilities in a fair, efficient and professional manner.
To cooperate with public and private organizations dedicated to the reduction of crime.
To support crime prevention at state and local levels.
To recognize outstanding services to and for the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department.
To collectively promote the welfare of members of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department.
To promote bazaars, rummage sales, auctions and all customary fund raising functions.
To establish and promote social activities on the part of the members of the organization, their guests and
invitees by means of meetings, socials and other gatherings and functions.
3. This corporation shall have the right to contract, lease, rent and in any manner hold property, to perform all
functions incident to its purpose and to have all other powers conferred by law on non-stock corporations and specifically, as set
forth in chapter 2, Title 13.1 of the 1950 Code of Virginia as amended.
4. Membership shall be composed of both active and honorary members. Active members shall be limited to
deputy sheriffs, male and female, of the Fairfax county Sheriff’s Department. Voting power at meetings shall be restricted to the
active members. A Board Of Directors shall be elected annually by active members.
5. The number of Directors who are to manage the affairs of this corporation shall be fixed by the By-Laws.
Interim vacancies in such directorships shall be filled by the remaining Directors. The names and addresses of the persons
who are to serve as the three (3) initial directors are:

The period for the duration of this corporation is unlimited.
6. The post office address of the initial registered office is 10511 jones street, suite 200, City Of Fairfax,
Virginia 22030. The name of the City in which the initial registered office is located is the City Of Fairfax. The name of the
initial registered agent is Jerry M. Phillips, who is an attorney and resident of Virginia and whose business address is
the same as the post office address of the initial registered office.
